OK, this has been bugging me since episode one.

Why is it that on April 29, 2010, at the time the whole world knows the flashforward will occur, why is no one waiting for the event to happen? Why is this not the only thing on the news, in the papers, on the internet, and why would anyone be doing anything as mundane as sitting on the toilet at the time?

As far as we can tell from what we've seen, no one in their flashforward appears to be expecting this event, even though they've all spent the last 6 months doing nothing but thinking about it or investigating it.

Also, why have none of the characters wondered what I'm wondering? None of the brains who are investigating it or thinking about it are going 'Hey, if we all know about what's coming, why does this flash seem like it could be from any day, rather than something unique in human history? Why is no-one experiencing deja vu?'.

Is there some other event that causes mass amnesia, before April 29, 2010? If so, what about all the archived news, internet, emails, texts, the Mosiac webiste, and other evidence about the blackout and flashforwards?

What does everyone else think?

do you watch lost? it seems like you are expecting the flash forward to be very similar to the way the time travel works for lost. i have no other options for you other than that this is a brand new show with a glimpse into the future for about two minutes. are u saying that no one is allowed to be in the bathroom at all on april 29th, 2010? it is just a specific 2 minutes, im not sure why it caputred people doing the things they were doing in those two mintues--maybe theres a reason for that. maybe the whole thing is a self fulfilling prophecy. i dont know if we can read into it too much at this point being about 4 episodes in.

Maybe the glimpse everyone had was of a future that would have existed if they didn't know about the future. You're right; why would Mark be in his office looking at his bulletin board if he knew masked men were coming after him? Maybe when the real April 29th comes around, the flashforwards won't be what actually happens. This is giving me a headache!

The flash forward is a vision of what is going to happen. The 4/29/10 event has already happened -- but in the future. (Isn't that what the "future" IS?) What's happening now is another experience. Whether or not fate (or some "other" force) drives people to a pre-destined future will have to be seen. It hasn't happened yet. Is there a way to "force" another future? To fight back? Does one erratic/unpredictable occurance throw the whole balance off? I mean if one person dies who is supposed to live, will that effect a person who was supposed to be saved but isn't (or murdered but isn't)?. Would an unexpected kangaroo illustrate the random factor that is supposed to be "off" but is "on" in a single (or a few) uncontrolled situations?

Or perhaps some other "event" happens along the way.

Really good question of why haven't the people asked "if I saw myself in the future, why wasn't my future-self aware of the flash forward when it happens"? If I know that the flash forward moment is at hand wouldn't I stand outside and look at the sky?, or be with a loved on?, or some other typical response to a major world event? Even if there's a reason why they don't know about it in the flash-future, they still should be asking about it "now". Or maybe in the "now" they just naturally accept that the flash forward is a vision of the future, uneffected by the knowledge "now" that I'm building an awareness.

That's a really interesting question. If the self fulfilling profecy is to come true, when it does come true, won't the people experiencing it remember the warning the oracle gave them?

Although we have yet to learn what exactly the flashforward was, it's possible that the content of the flashforward--the future, was something that took place simultaneously as the flashforward happened. That is, If the flashforward had not happened, Mark would not be in his office investigating. As soon as it did happen, not only did it show the future, but it showed the future the flashforward itself would help create. (There is, afterall, evidence of them remembering their flashforwards WITHIN their flashforward...flashforward Mark, for example, has stuff on the board that lists his memories of his own flashforward). So, you would think that as April 29th approached, someone may think that the past-me has already seen what the present-me sees right now (dejavu)....To that I can only speculate that April 29th is not going to happen as the flashforward predicts. If you ignore for a second the whole puzzle of whether free will will prevail or will determinism, there are other possibilities. If you recall, in their flashforward Al Gough and Fiona Banks see a crow crash outside their window. That may mean that on April 29th yet another blackout may occur. It would make some sense -- during one blackout the distortion in time(?) connected with another distortion (?), allowing people's consciousness to shift to that time as well. So final answer on my part would be, the people on April 29th do not experience dejavu because they aren't even there-- they are probably already blacked out seeing more of the future. (This would also allow the writers to extend the show to more than 2 seasons).

The whole lost thing.....about that. I strongly see the last episode of lost tying into Flash Forward. I feel that when the island moves that the blackout occurs, Does no one else see the Valenzetti equation refrence on tonights episode (11/12/09). When they are playing poker it is clearly said that there was research done on an equation that can solve the "end of time". Perhaps the Hanso corporation all bear star tatoos on their left arms??? I guess we shall see, magnatism being mentioned also shoots a Lost reference right at us all!

It's a very interesting question. But true, since Mark is reconstructing the board he saw in his Flash maybe the "view" is of the future that was created because of the FlashForward, so no Deja Vu is happening.
Oh and someone was on the toilet in a Flashforward. He was too embarrassed to tell. LOL

I am looking forward to seeing how they handle the new version of April 29. It seems as if it would have to be very different from what they saw before. The suicide for instance changes the future for the one researcher. Well, both, but...

But another thought on the deja vu....They could all very well experience the feeling of deja vu at 2 minutes 18 seconds.

So there are people beside who noticed that incredible big plothole.
As for me, i don't think the writers will be able to explain it at all, they will just go along with it. I'm german and the german version is up to episode 5 or so, and the only thing i can say now is, that show is FULL of plotholes. For example they were trying to get funds from that one woman (who is going to become the president in the future), right? Well, that woman asked them why they already spent so much money and so on etc. And she didn't trust their method at all, just because the origin of the investigation wasn't clear on his own prediction. Now comes the big plot hole.
First of all, even if the origin of the investigation might be not fully correct, they have undoublty already gotten evidence here and there, while EVERYONEELSE just predicted shit out of nothing. Not only that, the mosaic website(which seem to be the source of all problems for whatever reasons, but last time i checked it does't cost that much to run a website) is like a gold mine for the investigation, not only that, that website PROOFS that the flashword dreams are REAL or at least a HUGE FREAKING HINT

anyway, there are several other plotholes aswell, most of them having to do with the characters itself.
But anyway, i still kinda enjoy the show, because...well, i like the idea behind the show. The show itself is meh...

Some people here got a theorie that flashforwards ties in with "lost", right? Well, i hope for god not, because i have never saw lost, and it wouldn't be fair to make somehow watch lost to understand this new show.
